What Causes Fluid Discharge From A Lymph Node After Disection?
Hi My mom recently went through a lymph node dissection near her groin area. This later got infected and its been more than 6 weeks that the lymph fluid that oozes out has not stopped plus she has lymphoedema one the leg that was infected. At this stage she is not ready for any radiotherapy. Will a tumor factor test tell us if she would need one or not?
Most probably it will be a seroma. It is nothing but a collection of clear fluid after surgery. She can consider an ultrasound scan to confirm the diagnosis.
Once the diagnosis is confirmed, she can opt for aspiration to clear the fluid. Short course o antibiotics also be useful.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
