What Causes Fluid Discharge From A Surgical Incision?

I had appendix removed 3 weeks ago. 28 staples removed and all healed nicely except short thin line of a millameter or 2. at the major incision. It accationaly (daily) drains an almost clear liquid. No blood color. Age 81 good physical health. Surgery restrictions ....10 pounds and no golf etc for six weeks. Are there any concerns about the liquid?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It might be due to the postoperative collection at the surgical site.

Consult a general surgeon and get an ultrasound scan for further evaluation.

Nothing much to worry as it will settle by itself.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
