General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Breast discharge could be due to infections, tumor like growth or hormonal reasons. All these causes should be ruled out. Prolactin Hormonal levels should be tested. Histopathological examination and culture and sensitivity of the discharge should be done.

Intraductal papilloma which are noncancerous growths in the ducts of the breast should be ruled out. They are the most common reason women experience abnormal nipple discharge. Further examination is required in order to identify the cause.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
