Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Fluid Discharge From The Area Of Piercing On The Earlobe?
My ear lobe keeps extracting fluid from inside my piercing. It s been like this for a couple weeks, the back of my ear itching and the skin was peeling. The back has healed up, but now the front of the same ear is starting to do the same thing. The piercing has expanded, but maybe that is because of swelling (i don t know) but it s very itchy and the same thing is happening to my other ear right now. I m getting nothing but fluid coming from my ear. Is there a way I can stop this? Should I stop wearing costume jewelry?
Fluid discharge what you are noticing from the ear piercing area could be due to the development of sinus. Kindly get examined by consulting Surgeon in this regard.
The sinus needs to be explored and wound debridement needs to be done. Following this it can be sutured. Once the wound heals completely, you should not get such symptoms and you can wear your jewellery.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
