What Causes Fluid Drainage From Hysterectomy Incision Site?
I am inquiring for a friend that had surgery 3 weeks ago and the incision has started leaking fluid today. Is that normal or should she go to urgent care? She had a hysterectomy due to huge fibroids and the incision is quite large. Thank you for your help.
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM Fluid drainage from an incision site is a sign of infection and will need to be explored.I will suggest she goes to the Doctor immediately for drainage and regular dressing. It may just be a scar infection that may pose no problem if well handled.Post operatory infections are common and easily handled with antibiotics and regular dressing. Hope this will help Best regards
