What Causes Fluid Filled Boil On The Gum After Root Canal Treatment?

Hi, I had a root canal last November & in June, had a permanent crown placed on it. Now my gum seems to be swelling near the root canal & sometimes the pimple swelling would burst & drain. Today, the pimple on my gum burst & some white mucus came out. I put it on my finger & it was very thick. Each time the pimple burst, the swelling goes away. The swelling seems to be the same as it was before I had the root canal last November. The root canal was due to my grinding my teeth in my sleep for a whole year. What is causing the swelling & Will I have to get another root canal ? Thank you very much.

Hi..
Welcome to Healthcare Magic..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms there is formation of DENTAL ABSCESS secondary to infection below the root tips of the tooth that is root canal treated and the infection is causing pus formation and formation of draining sinus..

Nothing to worry consult your dentist and get an IOPAR [X RAY] done to rule out the severity of infection..

If infection is less the a ten days course of antibiotics can help in resolving the infection..

But in case if the infection recurs then re-root canal treatment has to be done for permanent relief..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
