What Causes Fluid In Lungs After Parathyroid Operation?
Hi. My aunt had a thyroid and parathyroid operation. Woke up from surgery in extreme pain and couldn t breathe. Was put into an induced coma for almost 10 days. She is now out of immediate danger but is physically immobile. Doctor said something about her going into shock after the operation, and that she may have had an underlying heart issue. At first they said that her lungs were filled with fluid....we really don t know what went wrong here....even her right eye looks droopy.
Most of the complications related to thyroid and parathyroid surgery include bleeding, hypocalcemia, hematoma, obstruction of airways etc. It may be possible that your aunt may have airways obstruction. but treating Doctors will be definitely working hard to solve the issue. dropping eyes suggest lowering calcium levels. have faith in treating Doctors and hope for best. post surgery recovery and complications depend on patient age, morbidity conditions etc.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nirav Nimavat,
