What Causes Fluid In The Lungs And Swollen Ankles?

My sister has fluid in her lung and also her ankles are swollen. She has been seen at a free clinic and this is what they told her they ran test on thyroid and diabetes and took seven vials of blood for testing but she doesn t know what for. I am concerned about her health and the fluid in her lungs. She had pneumonia from October thru January and she tried homeopathics so is it safe to say the fluid is still pneumonia that has been ignored and improperly treated. Also, could this cause the swelling in her ankles and pain in her lower back?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Consult a physician and get evaluated. We have to rule out possible cardiac and lung-related problems like effusion or heart failure. An echo test and CT scan are required for further assessment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
