What Causes Fluid Retention In The Retina?

One of my eye's has a lump of fluid right in the center of the retina. It causes lines to look wavy and really can't read out of it. What is the cause and what is it? Can/should it be treated and what are the possibilities of the fluid going away? I'm in good health and am 62. Thanks!
