What Causes Fluttering Sensation In The Chest?

Sometimes I get this fluttering feeling in my chest. It has been going on for about 2 years now. It happens so fast that I barely have time to react but it feels like mt heart stops beating for a bit like it skips a beat or it starts beating faster. What exactly is wrong with me and is it a cause for major concern? I took an ECG last 2 years but the doctors said there was nothing wrong but it still persists up to now and I worry about it.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If you have this type of sensations from the chest than better options after ECG would be echocardiogram and then you may opt for angiography for correct diagnosis and confirmation.

ECG is a primary screening test, it is not confirmatory and some time out may be normal though there is a problem in the heart.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nirav Nimavat
