What Causes Fluttering Sensation In The Heart Despite Taking Ativan?
I have been under a huge amount of stress the last few weeks and I have noticed that sometimes it feels like my heart is quivering. I have Mitral Valve Prolapse but do not take any medication for it, I have had the flopping fish feeling in my chest before but this feels different. I went to my regular heart doctor who ran an EKG and that was fine, blood pressure was also fine. He gave me .05 mg of Ativan to take daily but I don t think it has helped my agitation. I am concerned about the heart quivering especially since I ve never had this before. He told me to check my pulse when I am having those feelings and see if my pulse is regular. I have done that and to me it seems like when I have those quivers my pulse skips a beat. I don t know whether to be worried, adding more stress, or just take the Ativan and give it a chance to work.
You should consider an EKG and also blood tests such as complete blood count and thyroid function tests. A low blood count and/or an abnormal level of thyroid hormones would also both cause palpitations to occur.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
