Hello,

Have you ever had an upper G.I. done? You could have a hiatal hernia as you suggested and you aggravated the situation by having a high consumption of carbonated drinks such as soda. There is a diet you can follow for hiatal hernia that includes lifestyle modifications such as not wearing a belt that is too tight and not laying down after eating as well as the avoidance of certain foods that affect the pressure of the esophageal valve that keeps you from regurgitating your foods.

Avoiding tomato products, alcohol, citrus, and caffeine should help as well as staying away from high-fat foods. The blood is more than likely caused from the vomiting and the rupture of blood vessels during the vomiting. If you are overweight, losing weight will help if its a hiatal hernia. I suggest you schedule an upper G.I. with your doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
