Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, For the past 2-3 weeks I have noticed an odd taste/smell coming from my throat, it is either flem from my nose or throat I think... It reminds me when I had sinus infections and/or my sinus surgery for deviated septum with the smell and taste of old blood and sickness... I have no pain, nor discomfort, no infection that I m aware of. It s just my snot tastes weird...it is sort of troubling. I ask : it is a symptom of something I should go to my Kaiser doctor for? Could it be a serious issue?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of foul odor in the throat which is due to bacterial or viral infection and infection of sinuses.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles 3 to 4 times a day. You should avoid spicy and sharp food. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper diagnosis. You should go for X-ray of paranasal sinuses. Take soft foods to avoid irritation to the throat. Milk boiled with a pinch of turmeric taken at bedtime for can be relieving as it has antimicrobial properties. Throat lozenges along with proper cleanliness will be helpful for you.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
