What Causes Foul Odour And Discharge From The Vagina?

Hello, I have had a foul odor and discharge from my vagina for over a year. The smell gets worse after intercourse. I went to see my OBGYN today. She gave me a prescription call Flagyl. Flagyl is used to treat bacterial infection of the vagina. She swabbed my vagina and will see it off to the lab. She I be worried about STDs. Yes, my husband has not been faithful. He said it was 3 year ago since he slept with another women. Is that possible or did he recently sleep with someone?

These symptoms and signs are suggestive of STD especially if there is associated pain, fever, urethral discharge and recent sexual intercourse. So this is the first thing to rule out by doing STD testing. Second, it may be sign of uroinfection o urinary stones and some other genital infection but this is less common. In every case, antibiotic therapy may be required so test should be done as soon as possible so that appropriate treatment can be started. Till that try to drink plenty of fluids, avoid sexual intercourse and rest.
