What Causes Foul Smell From Vaginal Area?

Hi I have had a really awful fishy smell coming from my vagina/anus on and off for months. I m pretty sure I have had piles for about 10 years but am too embarrassed to go to the doctor. About once a month I get a LOT of blood after going to the toilet, not just a little bit on the tissue but so much that the water in the toilet is quite red and the smell seems to come on a day or so after this bleeding. Any suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to hcm,

You had history of piles earlier, and now painless heavy bleeding indicates your piles problem has recurred.continues heavy bleeding will make you anaemic and you will develop weakness. I advise you to consult a surgeon for proper treatment. Piles problem will increase when ever your stools are hard. Take lot of sprouts and drink plenty of fluids. Don't strain excessively during passing stools. Foul smelling discharge could be because of vaginal infection. Consult a gynaecologist and get pap smear done to know the exact type of infection. A course of antibiotics will cure the infection.

Thank you
