Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My menstrual. Blood smells. Like somethings dead, i been menstruating. 2-4 weeks constantly i have no std or other diseases, however i do have hipothiroidism and i dont think is controlled. Im a very clean person. I tried antibiotic. And yeast infection cream but doesnt work!! My lasy gynecologist visit 2 years ago.
The foul odor in the menstrual blood is suggestive of an infection. A vaginal swab culture will help in diagnosing the exact type of infection you are having. Avoid using tampons and change your pads frequently to avoid any further complications. The excessive bleeding that you have can be due to:
- Female hormone imbalance
- Uterine fibroids
- Disorders of the uterine lining
- Uterine, ovarian or cervical cancer
- Hypothyroidism
- Endometrial hyperplasia
- Dysfunctional uterine bleeding, to name a few.
In your case it is more likely that the bleeding is due to Ovarian cyst, fibroids and endometrial hyperplasia (increased thickness of endometrial lining). Proper investigations will help in pin pointing the diagnosis.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Iven Romic Rommstein, General Surgeon
