What Causes Foul Smelling Semen And Scrotal Pain?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...

My husband's sperm has started smelling like dried rotten shrimp in the past couple of months. He has also told me he's been hurting in the scrotum area and just last night I found out that he has been finding blood on the tissue after he goes to the bathroom.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Foul-smelling semen isn't normal.

If the smell persists, it could be a sign of a sexually transmitted infection (STI) or other underlying condition, such as Trichomoniasis.

This bacterial infection can cause itching and burning, as well as smelly penile discharge.

I suggest doing a urine test and a semen test for further evaluation and treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
