Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was told today not to take potassium as it will cause harm to my body. I started taking supplements on my own as I have severe leg cramps. Now I have noticed my urine has a very foul smell, going on 2 months, and it does not smell of ammonia. What could be the causes
Foul smelling urine can mean most commonly a Urinary tract infection. It could also be from Urinary stones or pelvic inflammatory disease. If it is an infection, you will need a prescription for antibiotics. The antibiotics will clear the infection. You will need to test your urine for that first. For now, drink a lot of water around 8 to 10 glasses of water a day. That should help a little. Take care.
