Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Every morning my mouth and the back of my throat has a horrible taste. It s similar to the taste you d have if you ve allowed an aspirin to disolve in your mouth. Also, there s the firey lava burp that occasionally plagues me. I have not narrowed down a food cause, but I DO need to sleep on a super firm pillow, never flat. Any ideas?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns. As per your complain foul taste at the back of throat along with burps is pointing towards Acid reflux or Gastro-esophageal reflux disease or GERD.
I would suggest you to consult a Gastroenterologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like upper G.I. Endoscopy can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.
You can be advised to take Proton Pump Inhibitors like Omeprazole or Pantoprazole. Take antacids like Milk of magnesia. Avoid spicy food and drink plenty of water. Always take walk after meals and take your dinner at least 2 hours before sleep. You should sleep with head slightly raised as compared to feet.
Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks and regards, Dr. Honey Nandwani Arora
