What Causes Freckle Like Brown Spots On Ankles And Feet?
my daughter all of the sudden has freckle like brown spots on her ankles and tops of her feet they are not raised or itch or hurt her she does not have a fever but they seem to have appeared over night should we be concerned...she will be 6 years onl in jan
It is possible that what you are seeing in your daughter is a purpura, due to internal bleeding in the small capillaries. The most common cause of purpura in her age group is Henoch Schonlein Purpura. But since she does not have any symptoms at the moment besides these spots, it is difficult to confirm the diagnosis at this point. The other symptoms of this condition usually include joint pain, abdominal pain and blood in stools. So at this point you need to be alert for any other symptom and early evalution in the hospital. The condition is treatable and usually self limiting within 8 weeks.
Sometimes purpura can occur even without any of these conditions and will resolve on its own.
An evaluation of the patient's platelets is essential.
Hope this helps. Hope your daughter recovers soon.
