I had a daVinci robotic hysterectomy on 5/1/2014 with no overnight stay in the hospital - However, I have had 2 UTI s (7/31/14 & 9/13/14) since the surgery that involved bleeding - I haven t had a UTI in over 20 years b4 my surgery - Have you seen this happen frequently?
Hello, Thank you for your query. This is not unheard of after a hysterectomy but is not common. I suggest :- -a urine culture and sensitivity. First morning sample is best. Treat the infection completely. Partial treatment leads to resistance and difficult to treat infections. A repeat culture must be done 5 days after treatment is over to confirm that it is treated. Fungal Infection must be ruled out as well
-maintain frequent personal hygiene, wash /wipe from front to back. Dont use cosmetics or harsh chemicals. Use mild soap. If vaginal dryness is present, hormone replacement therapy may be required. Change underwear frequently.
Based on the above test results and treatment outcomes, further tests may be required. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. Wish you good health
