I warmly Welcome you!
Thanks for consulting at my virtual HCM clinic. I have carefully worked through your case, and I can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I assure you not to worry as I will take care all of your medical concerns.
Probable causes:
Such a change in bowel movements is pretty much common amongst kids. They actually are not able to care much about the hygiene and may take anything into the mouth that may have been contaminated with pathogens or gastric irritants.
Any food may also causes irritation of the gastrointestinal tract that may lead to loose stools and frequent defecation.
Sometimes a viral infection also causes such gastrointestinal tract issues. This should get better in 5-7days and is self limiting.
You need not worry as it will not go very long. Your daughter will soon be fine.
About SporLac:-
Yes you may start with SporLac. It is a good gastrointestinal tract supplement for maintaining the normal healthy microflora of the intestines that are necessary for proper stool formation.
Criteria for water addition is clearly written on the Powdered sachet for SporLac. Follow the manufacturer instructions.
Avoid Dehydration:-
Make sure to give her
Pedialyte to replenish water. The main indicator in kids for water deprivation and dehydration is a decrease in Urine frequency, urine volume, diapers wetring etc. You may also see if her tongue is looking as normal as it usually had to be before the issue. Lips also get dried up if a person gets dehydrated.
If you feel nothing is working anymore for her, take her to
Pediatrician to see if there is a bacterial infection and need for an antibiotic regimen.
It will not take much time for her to get out of it. Hope I answered all of your health concerns . If you have further questions in future, feel free to contact me anytime & I will get back to you in no time. Please give a positive feedback.
Have a wonderful time ahead.
Best Regards!
