Noted the history and understood your concerns.
Your finding of
diverticulosis was an incidental finding few years ago and may not be the cause at the moment.
Since you have frequent stools with mucus the possible causes can be as follows:
Colonic infection with ulceration or so.
An attack of
diverticulitis.
Cancer of the colon.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Get the clinical evaluation bya
General Surgeon or a Gastroenterologist.
CT scan of the abdomen and
colonoscopy are the most important investigations to pinpoint the cause.
Tests of stool and blood.
A course of an antibiotic active against intestinal infection and
Metronidazole may solve your problem if the problem is due to intestinal infection alone.
Also take probiotics, curds/yogurt, bananas.
Avoid all the foods and beverages that cause the problems.
