What Causes Frequent Bowel Movements In An Diabetic Patient?
My husband is diabetic and on metafomin tablets also cholesterol tablets I ve noticed he needs to go to the toilet after eating and there seems to be a very bad smell which has never happened before it it very strong and hard to eliminate he goes toilet to move his bowels four times or even more a day
Metformin is one of the most commonly used diabetic medications because it is effective but like all medications, there are potential side effects.
The most common side effects are gastrointestinal. It can cause abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, nausea and bloating. It is possible that it may also affect the nature of the stool.
In many cases, the effects decrease with continued use. If this is not the case then he may need to speak to his doctor about a change.
I hope this helps
