What Causes Frequent Bowel Movements With Mucus And Blood In Stools?

Hi, for around 3 months i have noticed a couple of changes in my bowel habits. I have been needing to go more often than normal (I used to only need to go every couple of days). About a month and a half ago I noticed a small amount of blood when I wiped which I had never seen before but wasn t too worried as it was only like that a couple of days. However from then on I kept a closer eye and have noticed every now and then a slight pink tinge on the stool and have had small amounts of mucus on the stool almost every BM. I also often feel very constipated but feel that I cannot fully empty my bowels when I go. Also, almost every single time I have a BM, the stools are extremely small like pellets but are not hard as you would expect from feeling constipated. I have mild discomfort in my stomach throughout the day but nothing that I would be too bothered about if I didnt have the other symptoms. I have always suffered with severe bloating (to the extent i look very pregnant) and this is still the case but is not necessarily a new symptom. I am a 21 year old healthy female with a very good diet (lots of fruit and veg) and I definitely drink plenty of water so I know it s likely nothing too bad!

Hello There

After going through your medical query I understand your concern and I would like to tell you that bleeding can be because of development of anal fissures due to constipation. Anal fissure requires a physical examination for proper treatment. Kindly consult a physician for proper physical evaluation and further management.

Hopefully this information will guide you properly.

Kind Regards
Dr Bhanu Partap
