What Causes Frequent Diarrhea While Suffering From Kidney Stone?
Hello doctor, I am a type 2 dibetic patient, recently i am having the frequent bowl problem..like some times it is watery and some times semisolid. I take imodium and it controls but again after a couple of days it is starting. I am avoiding coffee, milk spices etc. After a week long gap i am having this problem again. What should I do? I am concerned. In july i came to know that I have a stone in my kidney which I will be treating in december through soundwave procedure. Is this bowl problem is due to the stone?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
A kidney stone can cause abdominal pains & the medicines taken may cause constipation. Drinking excessive water/anxiety due to strong pains can stimulate bowel movements but loose motions you have need investigations to find other cause in bowels (infection, infestation, food allergies, inflammatory or autoimmune diseases). Please consult physician/gastroenterologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
