What Causes Frequent Fainting With Vomiting?

my 86 year old mother in law has started having frequent fainting spells. Sometimes she vomits. She has had ekg's and other tests with no irregularities found. She takes meds for high blood pressure, a liver disease called primary biliary cirohsis. She has liver tests done regular and her levels are always good. She has become very weak and unable to stand.

Geriatrics Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Frequent fainting with vomiting indicates CNS cause. However, transient ischemic attacks also needs to be ruled out, as sometimes it is not associated with vomiting. Vomiting could be secondary to gastritis.
2. As all her tests are normal, she will require an CT of brain to check for lesions.
3. She needs to be started on proton pump inhibitors to control gastritis. Full test details necessary for further interpretation.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
