What Causes Frequent Headaches And Nose Bleeds?

My 17 year old daughter has had frequent headaches for the past month and frequent nose bleeds for the past 4-5 days. No other signs of cold, sinus infection, etc. Just headache and bleeding. Primarily the left side. We re trying to decide on trying to get a GP appointment, urgent care, or ER.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Since she has no history of sinus, cold or infection in the past few days, the nosebleed & headache can be an indication of hypertension, inhalation of carbon monoxide or ammonia, anemia, leukemia, thrombocythemia, congenital heart disease or tumor.

These can be the causes but sometimes it may be due to simple causes like broken nasal vessels, deviated nasal septum or epistaxes. Get your daughter examined, evaluated & treated at the earliest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K,
