What Causes Frequent Hiccups Followed By Vomiting?

My husband is experiencing for the third time, hicups causeu=ing vomiting, yes as he is sticking his finger down his throat to get rid of what is now bile in his tummy. This seems to happen after a couple of drinks and this time has lasted for three and a half hours. He is still in distress and I have him breathing in and out of a paper bag.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

Alcohol can cause hiccups in some persons. If he is noticing this response, he may have to decrease or hold off for a little bit particularly since the hiccups are lasting for such a long period of time.

There are medications that can be used for hiccups if he continues to have issues such as chlorpromazine, haloperidol or metoclopramide.

His doctor can prescribe one of these if needed.

I hope this helps
