What Causes Frequent Mood Swings In An Elderly Person?

My mom is 72, living independently, and was once a fun loving jokester, hard worker. Now she is exceptionally moody with frequent outbursts of temper. Also argumentative with neighbours. Totally uncharacteristic. I wonder what disease she may be showing signs of. She hits two of ten markers for Alzheimer s, moody, and physical abilities. What else can we look for in symptoms, then try to convince her to seek medical help

At this age dementia with behavioral problems is common. Her behaviour is also indicative of senile psychosis. A detailed work up with a psychiatrist is must.
