What Causes Frequent Nose Bleeding In Child?

Hello, my 9 year old daughter has been getting unusual amount of nosebleeds in past few months. Especially since this past August. She has already had 4 or 5 since school started, the most recent today. We did take her in today to Family Practice, and they referred us to a nose doctor, which we will make appointment tommorow. This is scary, do you have any recomendations, or ideas what this could be from? Also is this something to be concerned about?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your child have symptoms of frequent nose bleeding. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like exposure to warm, dry air for prolonged periods of time, nasal and sinus infections, allergic rhinitis, nasal foreign body ,vigorous nose blowing and deviated or perforated nasal septum. Need not to worry. Avoid touching or pricking nose with any sharp object. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may check vitals, take history, order CT scan and blood test . Doctor may also order nasal endoscopy . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics , decongestants and may recommend surgery in case of nasal polyp and other condition.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
