What Causes Frequent Nose Bleeds In An Adolescent?

Hi, my son, 17 yrs old has frequent nose bleeds, about 2 or 3 times a week, they take 5 to 10 minutes to stop, and bleed alot. This has been going on for about 2 years. Seems to have started after he went to a high adventure scout camp, Philmont New Mexico for 2 weeks of hiking and camping in the mountains. Any suggestions? Thanks, Chris YYYY@YYYY

Hello,

I have gone through your query. It may be due to dry nose.

For that you can apply nasal saline drops locally.

Use humidifier.

Avoid hot and humid environment.

Do regular blood pressure monitoring.

Alternatively you can apply aloe Vera gel locally.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
