What Causes Frequent Nose Bleeds?

My husband has been having frequent nose bleeds. Today was pretty bad he suggested going to the emergency room. We were able to get it to stop but he is a little nervous and not crazy about going to the doctor. Is this something to be really concerned about? Thank you

Hello,
I read your question and understand your concern.
Nosebleeds commonly occurs from the anterior part of nose.

Common causes of nosebleed (Epistaxis) are as follows:

a. Blowing or picking the nose
b. Injury to the nose
c. Allergies or cold
d. Low humidity
e. Certain medicines like aspirin, warfarin, etc.

Now recurrent nosebleeds occurs due to:

a. Rupture of blood vessels of anterior nose close to the surface lining of nose or abnormal blood vessel
b. Conditions affecting normal clotting of blood
c. abnormal growth in the nose or sinuses.

you have not mentioned the frequency of nosebleeds. It is very important for me to know the frequency.

Nosebleeds that occurs 4 times or more in a week need complete medical evaluation and if nosebleeds occurs twice or thrice in a month that means allergies or any other chronic condition causing it.

So if you can provide frequency of nosebleeds than it would be better for me to suggest more.

Hope this finds helpful to you.

Thank you and good luck!
