What Causes Frequent Urge For Urination With Discomforts In Urethra?

Hello I am a 35 year old male and I ve been having weird urge to pee symptoms, slight discomfort in urethra, and had a pain in right side that felt like I pulled a muscle while lifting something that seemed to improve with Levoquin after 3 days. I had to discontinue the Levoquin due to some possible strange side effects it was causing and will be on Bactrim now. UTI tests only seem to show Leukolytes at the moment (2 other tests were negative), but I had also ignored my urge to pee, which was waking me up in the morning, for a side effect of medication I was on for months (after I went off the meds the issue was still there). I also had a digital prostate exam and didn t notice any pain or discomfort during that. Could I have had a UTI infection for months and my body got used to the infection that it will no longer give off nitrates in the urine or make it harder to detect the infection? Also, can a UTI that reached the ureters cause a tingling sensation, I went off the Levoquin and am noticing this tingling feeling, perhaps its nothing?

Urologist 's  Response
Hi
The combination of the presence of nitrites and leucocytes in the urine is more than 95% accurate in diagnosing UTI. However if you have a condition called prostatitis, then both these can be negative. Please visit your urologist for assessment to rule this out. My practice is to do semen culture and post prostate massage urine sample to assess this.
