What Causes Frequent Urination After Giving Lactogen In Infants?
hi . my baby is 1 month old . his birth weight is 3.3 kg . now he is 3kg . i couldnt feed my son . doc suggested me nan pro 1 . baby is not satisfied . i heard lactogen is sweeter . so recently started . but he urinates frequently once he finish the bottle . and cry for milk . my son is very lean and thin . how to gain him weight ? is lactogen good to continue ?
The present weight is inadequate. By one month, we expect around 3.5 kg. I am not aware why you are unable to feed. If the cause is correctable, that will the best option as nothing in this world can replace mothers breast milk.
But if breast milk can't be an option, nothing to worry- formula milk given properly will do pretty well. Most common reason for not gaining adequate weight on formula milk is inadequate feeding and improper dilution.
Take care the following points: 1. Dilution should be correct- prepare with exact amount of powder and water (boiled and cooled) as mentioned on the pack. Both excess / low amount of water will do harm 2. He should get minimum 35-40 ml of feeds every 2 hours (increase to 50-60 if giving every 3 hours) 3. Night feeds are quite important- baby should not be allowed to sleep more than 3 hours without a feed 4. Do proper burping after each feed, and avoid him sleeping within 30 hours of feeding- this will avoid excess regurgitation
Re-check weight after 2 weeks of this correction- we expect around 350-400g gain by then. If not, kindly review with your doctor to look for any organic causes.
Urination after feed is not some thing to be worried. But crying after feed indicates he is hungry, and quantity given is insufficient. When getting enough amount, he should sleep quiet for some time after each feed.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
