What Causes Frequent Urination Along With Burning Sensation Post TURP Procedure?

HI, I had TURP procedure done in mid January because I continued to get urinary tract infections and after eliminating everything else my Dr thought the prostrate my be harboring the infection. The procedure went well except I m now 6 weeks out and I m still experiencing the following: urgency-immediate need to urinate frequency-I urinate at least 20 times a day, every two hours at night burning sensation-terrible burning at the end of urination

Hello dear,
TURP is operative surgery done in prostate enlargement that obstruct your urine flow and prostate inflammation.
After surgery, surface cavity of prostate takes time to heal around 6 week to 10 week.

So, burning sensation and frequent urge normally occur up to 8 week after TURP.

Please note following post operative symptoms will occur:
1. Urinary disturbance: urgency, frequency, nocturia, burning sensation, reduced flow
2. Bladder control problem
3. reduced semen after ejaculation
4. Bowel movement linked to urination
5. Weakness

Take following advice to overcome this:
1. Mild exercise like brisk walking
2. Proper rest that help in faster healing of prostate
3. Take all medicine that is given postoperatively
4. Drink extra fluid that help to overcome the fluid that loss in surgery
5. If you have more pain: Take tablet diclofenac 500 mg orally to reduce it.

So do not worry. follow above advice and you will be fine.
