Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband had a stroke last year and has had a heat attack about 10 years ago to give you some history. He has been getting up in the middle of the night to pee and is sometimes disoriented and falls. He fell tonight and seemed ok but now he has gotten up twice more within an hour to pee again. He is on careless so I worry when he falls. Is getting up this often to pee normal? Could something be wrong from the fall tonight?
Regarding your question it is known that frequent urination at night (nocturia) is often a symptom of other medical conditions including urological infection, a tumor of the bladder or prostate, a condition called bladder prolapse, or disorders affecting sphincter control. It is also common in people with heart failure, liver failure, poorly controlled diabetes mellitus, or diabetes insipid.
Some medications for Diabetes, pregnancy and diuretic are also associated with nocturia. So in your case you should exclude above mentioned disease by an urologist doing physical examination, urine test, abdominal echo to control the bladder and prostate size and to see if your husband take some medication maybe diuretics.
I hope my answer helps you. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Monika Dede
