What Causes Frequent Urination At Night?

My husband has had a recent urinary issue. He goes to the bathroom every 1 to 2 hours at night. During the day when the need hits him, it s very urgent, and he has wet his pants a couple of times during the last few days. I want him to see a doctor, but can t convince him, so I was looking up reasons, that may convince him to get checked out.

Hello,

For increased urination there can be following reasons:

- Age related benign prostatic hypertrophy (enlarged prostate), which makes passing of urine a bit difficult, more urine remains in the bladder causing increased visits.

- Unrecognised diabetes, leading to hyperglycemia, where glucose is filtered in to urine, causing excess urination along with more thirst.

- Urinary tract infection, if not treated or not recognised can also lead to increased urination. Hence, please advise or coax him to get a few test done to find out what could be the reason and the same can then be treated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
