I m 55. for about a year now i have had to get up at night every 2 to 3 hours to urinate. i am becoming exhausted it usually is at least 5 times a night. its not a lot and it doesnt hurt or burn. Recently i ve noticed that i have to strain somewhat to urinate. my dr put me on oxybutynin one dose didn t work so now i have upt it to 2 pills at night time. i ve been on this for about a week and still no different. how can i stop urinating so much at night. during the day i go only 2 times all day long.
A PSA would determine if there are any issues with the prostate if this is an possibility. In addition, you need to look at the amount and type of fluids that you are using in the evenings.
You should refrain from using any fluids 2 hours prior to bedtime and no caffeinated products (green tea, coke, coffee, black tea).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
