What Causes Frequent Urination While On Treatment For Gout?
My husband had an attack of gout starting on 8.16.16. After two series of colchicine, five days each, the pain in his foot and ankle subsided but the ankle has remained swollen. On 9.12.16 he started having to urinate frequently. This has continued throughout the day today, and now his temperature is 100.2. Could this be related to the gout?
Hi Mis XXX Thank you for posting your questions here.
I would say that yes the gout may cause kidneys problem ..Crystals caused by the gout may collect in urinary tract and form kidneys stone's , we call it urate or uric acid nephropathy. Frequent urination is a symptom of kidney stones or urinary tract infection . I would recommend to do a urine analysis to check for crystals or infection ,and a Renal ultrasound .Meanwhile your husband has to drink plenty of water to help the kidney remove the crystals , decrease the purine food (protein food ), alcohol
Wish your husband good health .
