Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter had frequent urge to urinate, with burning when she urinated. She consulted an Urgent Care doctor for a suspected UTI; they took a urine specimen and then prescribed an antibiotic. 3 days later and the Urgent Care called to tell her that she does not have a UTI and should stop taking the antibiotic. My daughter says the the symptoms are almost gone. Should she stop the antibiotic?
Hello. I think she should stop taking further antibiotics as you revealed she is not experiencing any symptoms now. However I would like to suggest few tips, as the infection might return if not taken proper care. 1. Ask her to drink plenty of water/fluids. 2. Buttermilk is an immediate relief. 3. Cranberry juice will surely help. 4. Eat non-spicy, non-fried fresh foods. 5. Keep frozen and precooked foods at bay. 6. Add curd in your meals at least two cups a day. Mind it, curd should not be taken at night time. 7. Be hydrated.
I hope this helps.
Thanks Dr. Tripat Mehta
