Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Yesterday, I started vomiting suddenly. I vomitted throughout the day and became very dehydrated as I could not keep even a sip of water down. I also had a fever of 101 all day and all night. It finally broke around 9am this morning. I ate a piece of toast this morning and then started to have diarrhea. Now I notice the gland on the right side of my neck is swollen and tender. I have been able to keep fluids down today but have not eaten again. Since I have been taking fluids I m not nearly as weak as I was yesterday, but still have no energy or appetite.
You seem to have gastroenteritis or the so-called stomach flu. It generally, is self-limiting and should be better in the next 3-4 days. It is important to keep yourself hydrated by using oral rehydration solutions (over the counter in the pharmacy). You can eat frequent small amounts of food such as Banana, Rice, Apple, Toast (BRAT diet) and also anything that does not aggravate your vomiting.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
