What Causes Frequent Vomiting Long After Chemotherapy For Cancer?

My mother had cancer and chemo a couple years ago. Since then, she has spontanious periods of vomiting (no warning and different foods). She has had scopes and lots of tests but the doctors have no idea why she is vomiting. when she eats it feels like the food gets stuck at the base of her throught and the she vomits. Is there anything that would cause this medically?

1. Nausea & vomiting are common side effects either of chemotherapy drugs or radiation recieved during cancer treatment

2. Apart from medicines additional measures which you can take:

. eat small regular meals ( light meals few hours before treatment)
. avoid food that are sweet, fried, oily
. stay hydrated (drink lots of fluids)
. avoid unpleasant odour
. don't lie flat after eating and wear loose fitting clothes
. practice meditation & deep breathing

PS. these measures may help you prevent nausea/vomiting but can't replace anti nausea medicines,so talk with your health care professional regarding specific management & treatment.

3. Other medical problem which are to be excluded is/are: use of painkillers, constipation, infection, problem with bowel- kidney-liver, emotional anxiety.
