Hi. I am having a weird sensation on my ankle. it feels as though there is an ice cube being held to it. the sensation is sometimes so intense it feels like what i imagine frost bite would feel like, however the skin is not cold to the touch and the feeling is located in a specific spot on my ankle. it has occurred for about 2 weeks now and the spot feels about the size of a golf ball.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have frozen sensation on the ankle . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like xerotic eczema , senile pruritis ,nerve dysfunction , sciatica or gout . I would suggest you to apply cold compresses to rashes , keep it clean and dry , apply petroleum jelly on it and take antihistamine like benadryl twice a day. The symptoms can also occur due to dislocation of joint and fracture . If condition doesn't get well then consult pediatrician for proper examination . Doctor may order certain test like skin patch test or allergy test . Doctor may prescribe immunosuppressants , anti inflammatory or corticosteroid ointment . Avoid trigger factor , which starts swelling and itching . Doctor may also refer you to orthopedic surgeon .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
