What Causes Gag/nausea Due To Building Up Of Saliva While Working Out?

Hi, I have a medical question. The past six months or so every time I workout
in the gym there is a build up of saliva in the back of my mouth which is
causing gag/nausea and I want to vomit. This has never happend before, what
could be the cause? why now?
I have noticed that if I drink no water the after noon before the workout i have
less problems.
Any help would be appreciated

thanks

ps ime a 27 year old male in good health and about 92kg(about 200 pounds)

Hi welcome to HCm
I have gone thru your query regarding gag/nausea due to building up of saliva while working out . It is a matter of concern .
I find you are over wt., if your ht is below 6'.

Dear , Working out for maintaining your body is good but overdoing brings lot of problems . Warming up before starting and resting in between the work outs gives strength to immune system .
Acute excess bouts of exercise depress the immune system so the inflammation due to infections such as strep throat, a throat abscess or the mumps can make swallowing difficult.
Certain neurological diseases like Parkinson's or stroke can do the same thing.
The gag reflex involves a brisk and brief elevation of the soft palate and bilateral contraction of pharyngeal muscles evoked by touching the posterior pharyngeal wall. Touching the soft palate can lead to a similar reflex response.

It, along with other aero digestive reflexes such as reflexive pharyngeal swallowing, prevents something from entering the throat except as part of normal swallowing and helps prevent choking.

Sometimes, a person who has a dental problem or an injury to the bones of the jaw will have trouble swallowing saliva.

Excessive saliva is usually a temporary problem and rarely a cause for
concern but causes of increased saliva production include:
-Inflammation of membranes in the mouth
-A side effect of certain medications
-Or damage to the nerves that control the salivary glands
Sometimes ,intake of fast foods , tea ,coffee ,alcohol , smoking , causes digestive problems resulting in many unpleasent symptoms and worth avoiding .
Taking Balanced diet including fiber vitamins ,minerals protien ,anti oxidants as lemon juice in a glass of water with salt and a pinch of salt, crushed ginger, mint leaves with little salt & pepper may help you Instantly .

I suggest you for Getting a diagnosis and tested by a gastroenterologist is right way to solve your problem .
Hope this helps solves your query If sm .Take care , All the best God Bless .Wish Get well soon .
Don't hesitate to get back if have any further query .
