What Causes Gagging Sensation In Throat Along With Pain While Deep Breathing?
I have been experiencing when i take a big deep breath my chest to my throat feels a little odd, like something is a little off, i sometimes have been gagging too lately. I am not sure if it is just allergies or something else. are there any recommendations? What type of dr should I get checked by? Otherwise I am fine, I am able to exercise, and do everything normal.
Gagging sensation is triggered due to many factors like anxiety, acid reflux, oral sex, postnasal drip, dental / oral examination, cigarette smoke or various other tactile stimuli. Stay away and avoid doing any thing that stimulates your gag reflex. Taking antacids and PPIs may help to ease discomfort due to gag reflex.
You can get clinically examined by an ENT or a dentist, you may need some modified procedures or prosthetics. Stay relaxed and avoid stress. Do deep breathing exercises under a Physiotherapist, it should help. To get relieve from pain, you can take Acetaminophen, one SOS after food only when needed.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
