Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My doctor took an X-ray of the right side of my right foot today and the results were I have a fracture plus maybe the start of gout in my small toe and surrounding area. What and how does gout get in that area? I stumbled into a doorway in the middle of the night in early February and my foot has been achy since. Can you explain? Please?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Fracture can happen anywhere and may be due to trauma. But out of the small toe is rare. Usually, it comes from great toe. And it just not is in one joint it will have multiple joint involvement and mechanism too far beyond scope of understanding.
For me, it doesn't feel like gout at all and still I feel due to trauma, there may some erosions which they found out gout. Ask your doctor to get your toe tissue biopsy done to know if they can find gout crystals which are mandatory for the diagnosis of gout. For pain use painkillers. Fracture will be healed on its own if it is hairline.
Hope this information helps you sort out your problems. If you feel its helpful kindly give me user thanks vote. Happy health! Regards, Dr. Archana
