Hi,
The gradual decrease in hearing can be caused by several factors including aging, exposure to loud noise, genetics, certain medications, and medical conditions such as Meniere's disease,
otosclerosis, and
acoustic neuroma. In your case, since you already have a history of Meniere's disease, it is possible that the gradual decrease in hearing and motor-like sound in your head could be related to that condition.
Meniere's disease is a disorder of the
inner ear that can cause
hearing loss, tinnitus (ringing in the ear), vertigo (
dizziness), and a feeling of fullness in the ear. It is important to have your hearing evaluated by an audiologist or ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist to determine the cause of your symptoms and develop an appropriate treatment plan. Treatment options for Meniere's disease may include medications, dietary changes, and/or surgical interventions, depending on the severity of your symptoms.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
