What Causes Gradual Drop In Sugar Levels Along With Vomiting?

My grandfather is 75 years old. He has diabetes and recently discovered that he has kidney problems. He takes insulin daily and this morning he took his usual dosage and shortly after his blood sugar level fell. It was 150, then 116, then 96, then 82. These levels are not completely worrisome, but he s been complaining that he s freezing cold, he s vomited everything that he s ate, and he s in general discomfort. He refuses to go to the clinic or hospital to get looked at and I m worried that these could be symptoms that lead to something more severe.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

His blood sugar may have been lowered too fast; his symptoms definitely suggest it. Make sure he drinks lemonade or other carbonated drinks. Keep measuring his blood sugar, and if it doesn't rise, contact a doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Anders Mark Christensen, General Surgeon
