Hi
Thanks for posting your query on HCM.
I appreciate your concern for the gradually increasing weight while on
Thyronorm.
Thyronorm is a
hormonal tablet used as a replacement therapy in
Hypothyroidism.
One of the effect of Hypothyroidism is weight gain and if hypothyroidism is controlled well then the weight gain could be controlled but not reversed.
Hence, the use of Thyronorm will not result in
weight loss.
The possibilities of gradually increasing weight in your case could be due to uncontrolled hypothryoidism.
Other causes include hormonal imbalances, Adrenal problems or Physical inactivity. In that case just correcting Hypothyroidism will not cause weight loss.
The goal of replacement therapy is to keep the thyroid hormone levels as stable as possible. This is much easier to achieve with synthetic preparations such as Levoxyl and
Synthroid.
Natural thyroid extract which is obtained from the animal source and T3 medications have their own limitations and drawbacks.
My recommendation is to continue Thyronorm and do serum TSH, take an opinion of your treating doctor to rule out other causes of weight gain mentioned above.
Hope you find this information useful.
